It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Roger Walker, a beloved professor, mentor, and friend.
Roger dedicated his life to the fields of anatomy, embalming, and mortuary science, serving as an esteemed instructor at the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science until his retirement in 2013.
Roger's contributions to his profession were unparalleled. His passion for sharing knowledge earned him countless honors and awards, and his wisdom resonated far beyond the classroom through his many public speaking engagements. For his students, he was more than a professor; he was a storyteller, weaving legendary tales that brought his lessons to life and left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of learning from him.
Beyond his academic achievements, Roger was a man of immense kindness and compassion. He was deeply committed to giving back to the community, spearheading annual holiday drives to feed those in need. His generous spirit and genuine care for others inspired all who knew him.
While his passing leaves a void in our PIMS Family, Roger’s legacy of excellence, dedication, and kindness will live on in the countless lives he touched.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and all those mourning his loss. Rest in peace, Roger. You will be dearly missed!
Please feel free to share your memories and stories of Roger in the comments. Let us honor his life by celebrating the incredible person he was. 💚

Dr. Joe Marsaglia, PIMS Dean Emeritus, recently traveled to Washington, D.C., to participate in Wreaths Across America - Official Page activities. While there, he placed wreaths on the graves of veterans at Arlington National Cemetery, paying tribute to their service and sacrifice.
A truly special moment of the trip was when Dr. Marsaglia was honored to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on Friday, December 13. He described the experience as humbling, deeply moving, and an incredible honor.
We thank Dr. Marsaglia for representing PIMS in such a meaningful way and for helping to honor our nation's heroes this holiday season. 🌟
