Full Job DescriptionWe are a large family-owned firm in the Winston-Salem area seeking a self-motivated, dedicated and reliable Funeral Service Licensee that excels in a fast-paced and team-focused environment. In this position, the applicant must hold an active dual license as a Funeral Director and Embalmer in North Carolina, or an active dual license in another state and eligible to take the NC State Funeral Law exam for licensure in North Carolina.

Responsibilities:

• Guide bereaved families in the process of planning funeral services and life celebrations,
   lead funerals in our facility and off-site locations and direct funeral support staff.

• Advise bereaved families in the planning of cremation and burial services

• Professionally speak with families in person and over the phone regarding pricing
   inquiries, funeral/memorial services and general funeral home related questions

• General embalming procedures for decedents

• Sanitation procedures for embalming preparation facilities and hygiene care
   for decedents

• Restoration/cosmetic procedures and application for decedents

• Documentation and record keeping for funeral planning and embalming reports

• Compassionate support and empathetic care for the families we serve

Minimum job requirements:

• At least 21 years of age and must hold an active Funeral Service License in NC or dual
   Funeral Director/Embalmer license in another state that is eligible to take the NC
   Funeral Law Exam and obtain NC Funeral Service Licensure

• Graduated from an accredited Funeral Service/Mortuary Program with an
   associate degree

• 1+ years experience employed as a Funeral Director/Embalmer with a reputable
   funeral home

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs, general computer skills and
   phone communication

• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

• Ability to work and multitask in a fast paced environment

• Ability to engage with bereaved families in a compassionate and empathetic manner

• Willingness to work in a collaborative team environment

• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.

• Valid NC Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record, with ability to drive company
   hearse, vans and limousines

• Appropriate professional appearance

• Ability to work weekends and evening shifts when necessary


Additional preferred (but not mandatory) qualifications:

• Bilingual in English/Spanish language
• 5+ years industry experience
• Experience with a diverse range of religious funeral practices and rites


Salary Range: Based upon level of experience and qualifications
