**Job Summary:**
As a Funeral Director at Robert A. Pumphrey Funeral Homes, Inc., you will play a crucial role in providing compassionate funeral services and support to client families. Your responsibilities will include assisting in funeral arrangements, overseeing visitation services, ensuring the smooth operation of funeral proceedings, embalming, and preparing decedents for visitations/funerals. You will be involved in tasks such as transferring the deceased to the funeral home, coordinating floral arrangements, managing parking logistics, and maintaining the facility’s cleanliness.
**Responsibilities:**
– Assist professional staff in organizing and conducting funeral services with empathy and professionalism.
– Coordinate and facilitate visitation services for client families.
– Transfer deceased individuals from the place of death to the funeral home with dignity and respect.
– Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the funeral home facilities.
– Provide exceptional customer service to grieving families while demonstrating sensitivity and compassion.

**Experience:**
– We are only looking for those with current Maryland Funeral Director/Mortician licenses or those that have a minimum of 5 years experience that would be able to apply for licensure by reciprocity.
– Strong customer service skills with a focus on delivering exceptional support to clients during difficult times.
– Sales experience is beneficial for discussing service options with families.
– Ability to handle heavy lifting (at least 100 lbs) as part of the physical demands of the job.
– Knowledge of anatomy and physiology is advantageous for understanding procedures related to handling deceased individuals.
– Familiarity with cosmetology practices for post-mortem care is a plus.
– Understanding of sanitation protocols in handling deceased individuals.

We pay licensing fees

401K Plan – This is not the typical matching 401K plan.  The company will make a contribution to the plan based upon profit for the year and then each employee has the option to save additional money out of their paycheck, pre-tax, if they would like.  Employees that work 1,000 hours or more each year are eligible.

Christmas Bonus of 1 week’s salary (prorated first year of employment)

Quarterly bonus based on performance (after working a full quarter)
